What
SchemeBook is two things bolted together: a directory of every CMS-registered medical scheme in South Africa (open and restricted, with type and PMB coverage), and a plain-language glossary of the terms those schemes' rules assume you already know — co-payment, DSP, late-joiner penalty, and the rest. It is a reference tool, not a comparison or quote engine.
Why
Prescribed Minimum Benefits, the Chronic Disease List, and Diagnosis Treatment Pairs are all matters of public record — but they're published as government gazettes and 71 separate scheme rule documents, in regulatory language nobody outside the industry was taught to read. SchemeBook exists so that gap isn't the reason a claim gets refused, a benefit goes unused, or a reform proposal has to start from zero.

When
