Doctor questionnaire · Q3

What are the material duties?

Material duties are the substantive tasks that define whether you can perform your occupation — not every incidental admin task. Your doctor should explain which core duties are affected, why failure in those duties matters clinically, and whether partial performance is realistic or unsafe.

Purpose

Separate core duties from incidental tasks.

Evidence the workspace should capture

Material duties list from profile or employer, functional-capacity matrix, employer confirmation of core vs incidental tasks.

ClaimBuddy guidance

Use the Functional-capacity builder to list core vs incidental tasks from your job description, employer records, or occupation search — then ask your doctor to address each core duty the policy wording treats as material. Pair with the GIP readiness check on material duties and the Job-title trap glossary entry so evidence maps symptoms to real work demands, not a generic title. Own-occupation policies test whether you can perform those material duties continuously during the Initial Period.
