A serious diagnosis does not automatically win; a modest diagnosis can still support disability if duties are impossible.

Diagnosis

Medical label — what the condition is called

Disability

Policy outcome — whether you meet the insured work test

Why this matters for your claim — Insurers may accept the diagnosis on a certificate but still dispute whether it causes disability under your policy wording (own occupation, suited occupation, or activities of daily living).

What to capture in ClaimBuddy

Tap a label to open the language-map explainer for that date or concept.

  1. Record each diagnosis — ICD-10 if known, treating clinician, and date.
  2. Name material duties blocked — For each diagnosis, at least one duty it prevents you performing.
  3. Separate medical from policy test — Doctors diagnose; policies test work function.

Claim tip

Always pair each diagnosis with duty-impact evidence.

Diagnosis (F32.1): major depressive disorder — cannot perform client-facing workshops because of panic and poor concentration.
