COIDA — temporary disablement
No-fault statutory compensation for occupational injury or disease. Temporary total disablement is 75% of earnings, after a three-day waiting period.

Who it is for
Employees injured on duty or with an occupational disease (COIDA). Not independent contractors in the old definition — check the 2026 amendments.
Work-injury social insurance. Private income protection often offsets COIDA. This is not the policy test for own-occupation disability.
Conditions
- Work injury / disease
- Accident arising out of and in the course of employment, or scheduled occupational disease.
- Waiting period
- No periodical payments if disablement lasts 3 days or less.
- First three months
- Employer pays TTD at ≥75% of earnings, then claims from the Fund.
