VET Student Loans
Income-contingent loan for approved vocational courses, not a Centrelink cash payment. Course list and loan caps are published by DEWR and indexed. Repayment is through the tax system.

Who it is for
Students enrolled with an approved VSL provider in an approved course, who meet citizenship or residency rules and the academic suitability test.
A Commonwealth loan, not private education insurance and not Youth Allowance.
Conditions
- Course
- Must be on the VET Student Loans course list, with a provider approved for that course.
- Loan cap
- Each course has an indexed loan cap. Amounts are in the DEWR fact sheets (students and providers).
- Census day
- You can withdraw without a VSL debt until the census day. DEWR publishes a census-day calculator.
- Under 18
- Parental consent form unless independent.
